About Ben

Hi! My name is Ben Bleything. You may remember me from such hubs as GitHub or from such confs as RubyConf. Perhaps you have read my old blog or follow me on Twitter?

I live in Seattle, but I’m originally from Portland. I enjoy many hobbies, but writing about myself is not one of them. I do like to write, though, and so I have this website.

I hack on codes sometimes too. Check out my projects page for more.

I’ve contributed to a few books:

• Ruby Cookbook - two recipes on using memcached with Ruby, co-written with Michael Granger
• Rails Cookbook - two recipes on advanced Capistrano techniques and one on caching post-processed content

I’ve also spoken at OSCON and RubyConf:

• Controlling Electronics with Ruby - using Ruby to interface with external hardware devices (RubyConf 2007, OSCON 2008)
• Two Turntables and a Microphone - hacking music with Ruby, presented with Yossef Mendelssohn (RubyConf 2008)
• stupid.rb - lightning talk about implementing the bad ideas you have at a conference (RubyConf 2008)
